On Tuesday night, the 25th I went to the Centre in the Square in Kitchener to see David Gray perform. Now it may seem odd, but at nearly 28 years old, I had never been to a concert before. I had been waiting to see someone whose music I loved and until now I just hadn’t had the chance. Most of you have probably never even heard of David Gray, so let me fill you in a little. He’s a singer-songwriter from the U.K. and has been making records for around 20 years. His biggest hit, and my favourite song for nearly a decade now is “Babylon” which came from his disc ‘White Ladder’. He’s currently on tour with his newest release ‘Draw the Line’ which is in my opinion his best album yet. There’s a song called ‘Nemesis‘ which is currently my favourite from the disc. I highly suggest you check him out. I really enjoyed the show and wish I could go again. Hopefully he’ll stop by when he releases his next album. I also recommend you check out the song ‘Freedom‘ which he performed, it’s quickly becoming one of my favourite songs.
I brought my camera with me of course, but I suspected it would get taken away if spotted, so I brought my smallest lens, a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens which sticks out no more than 10cm from the camera body, so no zooming. I wish I had a longer lens with me to get in close, but at least I was able to take pictures at all, so I’m still very happy.
Here are a bunch of shots of my memorable night in Kitchener. I only made minor adjustments to the photos, so if the colour seems odd, that’s just the way the lighting was at the time, not some weird post processing.
